Hi, I’m Vanessa. I first came to Costa Rica on vacation back in 2004—and something about it stuck. Over the years, while working long hours as an executive assistant on Wall Street, this little country became my sanctuary. Every chance I got, I’d come back to recharge and remember what peace felt like.

In 2014, I stopped waiting for the "right time." I packed my life into a car, loaded up my cat, and drove from New York City to Costa Rica—without a job lined up or a clear plan, but with the unshakable belief that life could be different.

Relocating on a tight budget, with no safety net, taught me how to build a life from scratch in a foreign country—navigating border crossings, housing, pet logistics, and everything in between.
